Ci piacerebbe immaginare una telefonata tra Larry Ellison ed Ernesto Bertarelli che discutono di Coppa America, la 33esima, e che poi si danno appuntamento allo Yacht Club di Ginevra, come due vecchi amici che decidono di bersi un gin-tonic e fare quattro chiacchiere sulle ultime regate del Circolo.
Ma i due probabilmente non si sono parlati ultimamente. Non dopo la senteza almeno. Per loro parlano gli avvocati che in questo momento staranno gustando lavarelli in carpione sulla terrazza della Societé Nautique de Geneve dove hanno deciso di incontrarsi per decidere insieme le regole per la prossima Coppa.
Multichallenger o Multiscafi? E le regate degli sfidanti con o senza Defender? Atti itineranti o in una sola lunga sessione come nel 2003 ad Auckland? E ancora, Louis Vuitton sì o cerchiamo un altro sponsor? E ACM sarà un organo del Defender o sarà controllato anche dal Challenger of Record?
Insomma di argomenti su cui discutere ne avranno parecchi, e quelli che ipotizziamo qui sopra sono solo alcuni dei punti all'ordine del giorno.
E poi insomma proprio ieri i legali di BMW Oracle hanno spedito una lettera a quelli di Alinghi dicendo che loro sarebbero per una Coppa multisfidanti a Valencia nel 2011 a bordo delle nuove AC33 disegnate da Schnack. Come vorrebbero Mr.Bertarelli e "Brad'n'Butterwoth". Quindi...

GOOD OLD CHAPS
We would like to imagine the possible phone conversation between Larry Ellison and Ernesto Bertarelli while they discuss about the 33rd AC as if they were good old friends who decide to meet up at the SNG in Geneva to chat about the latest regattas of their clubs…
But the two have been unlikely talking to each other recently; surely not after the decision and orders of the New York courts. Their representatives have instead talked to each other a lot while the two might be tasting nicely cooked fish on the terrace of the Societé Nautique de Geneve (SNG) where they have decided to meet up to discuss together the rules for the next Cup.
Multi-challenger or multihulls? With or without defenders? Various racing location or one single long session as in Auckland ‘03? And more: is Louis Vuitton still on top or are they seeking a new sponsor? Will the ACM be in the hands of the defender or will it be under the control of the Challenger of Record?
There will be a lot to discuss and negotiate and the above mentioned points are only few on their agenda. In the end only yesterday the representatives of BMW Oracle Racing have informed SNG/Alinghi that they would be willing to open the challenge selection to other teams to race in Valencia in 2011 with the new AC33 designed by Schnack. This is Mr.Bertarelli and "Brad'n'Butterwoth"’s desire. And therefore….
