In piena atmosfera pre mondiale torna ad aleggiare il fantasma dello strallo fisso sul Melges 24.

Stavolta ritorna col botto.

La regola infatti, ci dice David Chivers (Chivas Regal per gli amici), non è "scegli il sistema che più ti piace ed usalo" ma è un ben più severo "tutti gli alberi costruiti dopo novembre 2008 devono necessariamente montare il sistema a strallo fisso, passo e chiudo".

Gli altri, cioè a dire quelli che montano un albero costrutio prima del novembre 2008, facciano pure quel che vogliono che va tutto bene.

Il che significa che molte delle barche nuove hanno corso fuori regola durante tutta la stagione.

Il che significa che molte delle barche nuove dovranno ripensare ai loro assetti mondiali.

Il che significa che molti faranno ricorso e faranno pressione sulla classe internazionale per far annullare la regola mai divenuta operativa.

Il che significa che, in questa commistione tra alberi pre novembre 2008 e successivi, la rigida monotipia tanto rigida potrebbe anche non essere.

Il che significa che ci sono anche barzellette, come questa, che non fanno ridere più di tanto.

Ah dimenticavo ..... il che significa anche che se non ve lo diciamo noi non ve lo dice nessuno ;-)

Bè dai in comprenso per chiarire la situazione prima del mondiale c'è tempo .....

There has been some confusion over what is and is not legal with regard to the fixed forestay.
All masts constructed after November 2008 must be fitted and used with the fixed forestay. This includes new masts supplied to old boats after a breakage. The builders had quite a few masts in stock when the new rule came into force but new supplies will have to have the fixed forestay.
The rule allows the old style mast to upgrade to the fixed forestay, but it does not allow a new mast to fit or use the old system.
There is a proposal at the AGM for it to be compulsory to use the fixed forestay at championships after a certain date to be fixed. If you have thoughts on this subject then please make sure that you discuss them with your national class association so that they can represent your countries views at the AGM.
