Setting up for Race One...

Welcome to day one coverage of the 2009 Audi Melges 32 World Championship from Porto Cervo, Sardinia.

The Offshore Rules Website team are out on the racecourse right now aboard the Red rib and the wind is at around 15 to 16 knots with a lot of steep chop. The owner amateur owner drivers and the pro trimmers are going to have a mentally tough day getting their Melges 32's upwind in these waves. Our good friends from Adesso Vela are also out here aboard the Adesso Vela rib and will be capturing the starts and mark roundings on video for us to upload as quickly as we can.

There is around 35 minutes to go to the scheduled start time of the first race and as you would expect the fleet is already out here sailing practice beats and runs, checking angles and monitoring the movement of the wind. It is still pretty sunny here right now but the weather is forecast to be changeable so quite honestly we could get anything today.

We hope you enjoy the coverage from www.offshorerules.com and www.adessovela.com....
